Despite the city spending millions on repairs, Long Beach’s local streets are still ranked among the worst in California, an internal audit found.
When compared to several other cities and counties, its roads ranked in the bottom three, listed below several SoCal cities like Los Angeles, San Diego and Santa Barbara. City Auditor Laura Doud’s 84-page audit found more than a third of Long Beach’s streets were rated “poor” or “very poor” in 2023.
