A traveler that passed through LAX on July 5 and stayed at a nearby hotel has been confirmed to have measles, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Where they traveled: Officials say the person, who was not a resident of the county, traveled through LAX on July 5, 2025. Flight details are still under investigation. They also stayed at:
- The Hilton Los Angeles Airport (5711 W. Century Blvd.) from 7:30 p.m., July 5 to 1 p.m., July 7
What you should do: If you were at one of these locations during the times above, officials say you should check your vaccination status. You can develop measles seven to 21 days after exposure. If you do develop symptoms of measles, officials advise you to call your doctor as soon as possible, and before going in since it’s so contagious. Symptoms include:
- High fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, and a rash three to five days after other symptoms.
Vulnerable populations: If you’re pregnant, have an infant, have a weakened immune system or are not immunized, call your doctor right away after possible exposure, even if you don’t have symptoms.
Other cases: The last confirmed case of measles in the county was reported in June. Officials say there have been 7 cases of measles in L.A. County so far this year — 4 residents and 3 non-residents.
