Man’s slaying in Long Beach was ‘family matter,’ police say

The Long Beach Police Department announced they’ve made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a man on July 31, chalking up the slaying to “an interaction involving a family matter.”

Rickie Taylor, a 27-year-old Long Beach resident, was shot in the chest near the intersection of Bort Street and Long Beach Boulevard at about 11:15 p.m. on Thursday. He succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital.

Sean Richson, a 39-year-old Angeleno, was arrested in Los Angeles the next day after investigators said in a news release that he was “the suspect responsible for the murder.”

“Detectives believe that Richson and Taylor were involved in an interaction involving a family matter, which escalated into the shooting,” police said, updating an earlier characterization as a “family dispute.”…
