The City of West Hollywood is getting the word out about the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control’s (DACC) participation in the nationwide Clear the Shelters event spearheaded by NBCUniversal and Telemundo. Throughout the month of August, adoption fees will be waived at all seven of DACC’s animal care centers, making it easier than ever for people to find new furry companions. Clear The Shelters is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign where local stations partner with animal shelters and rescues in their communities to promote pet adoptions and raise needed funds. Since its inception in 2015, Clear the Shelters pet adoption campaign has resulted in more than 1.2 million pet adoptions. In 2024, the campaign achieved a remarkable milestone, with more than 168,000 pets finding new homes – the highest adoption total in the event’s history, surpassing the previous year by nearly 7,000 pets.
