Health officials announced Friday they are investigating an unexplained illness affecting dogs in the Venice Canals area, with dozens of suspected cases and several deaths reported.
This announcement comes after weeks of community unrest, with neighbors and visitors sharing eerily similar stories of taking their healthy dogs for a walk by the Venice Canals only for their beloved pets to die or become violently ill in the following days. Common symptoms include sudden and severe lethargy and weakness, lack of coordination, vomiting, tremors or seizures.
