Homeless, bleeding woman found dead in Anaheim field investigated as homicide

A homicide investigation is underway after a woman who authorities believe was homeless was found dead in a field in Anaheim on Tuesday.

Officials with the Anaheim Police Department said someone called in around 3 a.m. on Aug. 12, requesting a welfare check on an unconscious and bleeding woman in the 2100 block of West Crescent Avenue.

Police and Anaheim Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the area and found the woman, identified as 43-year-old Jessica Elaine Crummel of Anaheim, inside a tent that was set up in a large unoccupied field north of Crescent Avenue.
