VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (KNN) – In the shadow of January’s destructive and historic Palisades and Eaton wildfires, fire officials welcomed additional aircraft to aid in saving homes and lives — all ahead of the inbound Santa Ana wind season.
From the San Fernando Valley’s Van Nuys Air Tanker Base, officials from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, County of Los Angeles and Government of Quebec showcased the aerial assault tools being put into play to help ground resources over the next few months.
The Super Scoopers have rejoined the fleet from their home base in Quebec, Canada.
Coulson Aviation Group’s Helitanker 55, a Boeing CH-47 Chinook converted for firefighting, was also on display with the workhorses — Copter 21, a Sikorsky S-70i, and Copter 18, a Bell 412 — from the Los Angeles County Fire’s Air Operations Section…
