SWAT Standoff in Long Beach Ends in Arrest of Suspected Burglar

On Thursday, a disruption in the 1900 block of Olive Avenue ended in a SWAT siege, resulting in one arrest after a suspected burglary turned into a standoff. The Long Beach Police Department reported that at approximately 2:55 p.m., officers responded to a call about a potential break-in. According to the LBPD blotter, the situation escalated when the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old James Rey Ibarra of Long Beach, barricaded himself inside the residence.

The incident led to SWAT being called to the scene, where they established a perimeter and made efforts to de-escalate the scenario. Reportedly, the suspect remained uncooperative, refusing to adhere to the commands issued by the officers.
