Suspect sought in woman’s 2024 murder in Lynwood

On the tragic one-year anniversary of an unsolved murder, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is pleading for the public’s help on Monday in finding the killer of a 40-year-old woman gunned down in Lynwood last year.

The sheriff’s department homicide Lt. Steve De Jong and other officials will hold a press conference Monday morning to detail information regarding the fatal shooting of Irene Gonzalez exactly one year ago.

Gonzalez was shot at around 1:55 a.m. in the 12500 block of Oak Street on Sept. 15, 2024, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Her body was discovered by deputies at around 5:40 a.m. lying on the sidewalk with a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body. Sheriff’s officials confirmed that she was shot by a male driver while exiting a black 2014-2018 Toyota Corolla with four doors and a sunroof.

The relationship between the driver and Gonzalez, if any, was unclear…
