The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office recently concluded a spree of smash-and-grab robberies that shook jewelry stores across Southern California. Starting with a bold heist in Palm Desert on August 9, the investigators connected at least a dozen such incidents across Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties since May. The Sheriff’s Office spokesperson pointed out, in a statement referenced by the official report, that over $87,000 worth of merchandise was stolen by four masked individuals using hammers to break into display cases.
Bearing the responsibility of multiple counts of robbery and grand theft, as well as other charges, six men were ensnared by the long arm of the law. They carried out, at least on paper, a carefully executed plan that found them escaping with jewels in hand. According to information by KTLA, the arrested suspects include Ryan Hawes, J’Quan Brasher, Khalil Tanner, Keyon Hampton, Jamail Wilson, and George Diamond, with Wilson and Tanner being familiar faces to commercial burglary within Los Angeles County.
Law enforcement coordinated multiple operations to address this series of thefts. The apprehensions kicked off on September 11, when Khalil Tanner and J’Quan Brasher were taken into custody in Lancaster, with neither man making a scene. Subsequent arrests followed suit in the days ahead with precision; Keyon Hampton was apprehended on September 16, Jamail Wilson on September 18, and George Diamond on September 23.
