Authorities in California say they rescued a 51-year-old kidnapping victim from North Carolina and arrested one of her suspected captors over the weekend.
The San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department said deputies responded at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday to a report of “suspicious subjects” loitering outside a Sephora store at The Shoppes at Chino Hills. They detained two people, and allegedly found fraudulent identification cards, social security cards, and debit cards.
One of the people turned out to be a woman kidnapped out of North Carolina. She told deputies she was forced to travel across the country with 28-year-old New York man Rahson Govantes and an unidentified woman, “to commit fraud throughout the United States to repay debts she owed,” the sheriff’s office said…
