Palmdale mobilizes emergency food distribution as CalFresh benefits are suspended

The City of Palmdale is rising to meet a potentially unprecedented need for food following the anticipated suspension of CalFresh Program benefits, affecting 1.5 million people across Los Angeles County. Beginning Monday, Nov. 3, South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) will mobilize by switching to an emergency services mode.

SAVES will offer drive-thru services only to maximize efficiency and help reach as many families as possible during this critical time. Food will be provided Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., until further notice at the SAVES office, 1002 E. Ave. Q-12. The distribution line will start at 11th Street East and East Avenue Q-12. Service hours and days are subject to change based on community need.

No appointments are necessary, and previously scheduled appointments will not be honored. Residents may begin lining up at 9 a.m. and must be in line by 3 p.m. to receive food.
