Prop. 50 wins in state, county

Californians – including those in Orange County – overwhelmingly on Tuesday approved Proposition 50, which will redraw Congressional districts to create five more “winnable” seats in the House of Representatives for Democratic candidates.

According to the California Secretary of State, the measure has garnered 63.8 percent of the vote (5,088,745) in favor to 36.2 percent (2,885,639) opposed as of Wednesday morning.

Every coastal county – save tiny Del Norte at the Oregon border – voted in favor of Prop. 50.
