Irvine police used a drone to track down a fleeing man accused of stealing construction materials from a new housing development earlier this week, with officials releasing drone video of the chase on Friday.
On Tuesday, officers responded to a burglary alarm in a new home construction area near Bosque and Hornet, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Authorities launched their drone, which soon arrived overhead. Drone footage released by police shows the pickup truck backed up to a home under construction as the suspect lifts stacks of materials into the bed.
As officers arrived on the ground and attempted a traffic stop, the suspect sped off in his truck. The video then captures the truck pulling away, weaving through the development as the drone follows overhead and guides officers to its location…
