Home caregivers receive training through local center to help fill in-home services gap

LOS ANGELES — According to the California Department of Aging, by 2040 the number of Californians living with Alzheimer’s and dementia will increase by 127%, in Los Angeles, 135%. However, California will face a shortage of 3.2 million paid care workers in the coming years.

Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) President and CEO Corinne Eldridge said the only requirements to become a home caregiver are a background check and a one-hour orientation.
