Driver arrested after Tesla crashes into light pole, hydrant in Orange

A driver was arrested early Saturday morning after a Tesla slammed into a light pole and sheared off a fire hydrant in an Orange neighborhood, sending water gushing across the street, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a crash in the 100 block of East Brentwood Street, according to the Orange Police Department, where they arrived to find the heavily damaged Tesla resting against the broken pole, its front end crumpled and debris scattered across the roadway. A torrent of water from the ruptured hydrant streamed down the gutter, footage shows.

Photos from the scene also show firefighters in turnout gear assessing the wreckage as the leaning streetlight hovered above the vehicle. Another image shows officers speaking with a man near a cinder-block wall as water continued to pool nearby.

Police said the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and narcotics possession. He was later booked into Orange County Jail. No injuries were reported…
