A Lancaster man accused of killing his wife, dumping her body in the Angeles National Forest and then fleeing to Peru with their children will now “face the full weight of the law” after being extradited back to Los Angeles County, District Attorney Nathan Hochman said Monday.
Jossimar Cabrera Cornejo, 36, was returned to L.A. County on Friday to face a murder charge with a special allegation that he used a knife as a deadly weapon in the Aug. 10 killing of 33-year-old Sheylla Lisbet Cabrera at the couple’s apartment, according to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office. Cabrera Cornejo was only identified only as Jossimar Cabrera in previous news releases.
“After deliberately fleeing the country, the defendant has been returned to Los Angeles County to face the full weight of the law,” Hochman said. “Attempts to evade justice will not succeed. While he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, this extradition ensures he will now be held responsible through the legal process.”…
