Construction on Porto’s Bakery is presumably in full-swing now that a perimeter of construction walls with branded panels appear to be complete in Downtown Disney.
Branded Porto’s Walls Mark New Restaurant Site
We first sighted walls going up around the future Porto’s location earlier this month. As of today’s reporting, the area around the former La Brea Bakery and Earl of Sandwich is now completely walled off.
The walls now also feature Porto’s branding and promotional artwork and photography on some panels. Other panels remain brightly colored in shakes of red, green, yellow, blue, and purple.
The walls extend from the end of the current building into the esplanade past the ticket booths, which are going to be demolished.
Disney first announced that Porto’s Bakery would take over the now-closed La Brea Bakery in 2022. After a few years of silence, they confirmed the Downtown Disney District location was scheduled to open in 2025.
With the completion of the temporary walls, it is clear that construction is only just beginning. The project will likely continue in development well into 2026.
Porto’s Bakery was started by Rosa Porto and her family out of their home. There are currently six locations in Southern California, and the bakery sells unique Cuban dishes and sweets.
