Southern California police department warns holiday shoplifters to stay away

A Southern California police department has a warning for any Christmas Grinches planning to visit its shopping centers this week.

“If your last-minute holiday shoplifting plans involve Irvine, strongly reconsider,” the Irvine Police Department posted Monday. “We have extra officers at our retail centers, and the Spectrum is well wrapped in a cozy blanket of protection.”

Police said four people “found out the hard way” when they were arrested after one of them allegedly stole several bottles of wine from a Target store on Barranca Parkway.

Video posted by police showed officers conducting a traffic stop on the suspects’ vehicle, where the wine bottles were found. Khoa Dang Huynh, 31, of Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of petty theft with a prior and drug violations, police said…
