La Puente Man Charged With Robbery After Alleged Assault on Clerk in Rancho Cucamonga

On Sunday morning, a convenience store clerk faced violence when they requested a customer leave the establishment, the incident escalating into an alleged robbery in the Rancho Cucamonga area. According to a report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, at approximately 10:28 a.m., deputies responded to a call after an employee, who remains unnamed for their safety, was assaulted by David Diaz, a 28-year-old from La Puente.

After arriving minutes after the distress call, law enforcement discovered the suspect had already fled the scene; however, their swift action and inquiry into the matter revealed that Diaz became combative after being asked to leave, and in the heat of the situation not only chose to repeatedly strike the victim, but he also made off with merchandise without carrying out the transaction expected of a patron. Deputies managed to track down Diaz not far from the scene of the altercation, and it came to light that he was under active parole for a previous conviction involving a forceful offence…
