California – Wet pavement glistened before sunrise as steady rain pressed into Southern California, signaling a soggy and unsettled start to the first weekend of 2026. Showers are already affecting daily routines, and conditions may worsen at times through Sunday night as another Atmospheric River feeds moisture into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, periods of rain and embedded thunderstorms will continue today, with the highest rainfall rates focused north of Los Angeles and along upslope terrain. East Los Angeles faces widespread rain today with temperatures rising into the lower 60s, while rainfall chances remain high into Sunday.
