Last night, an incident that escalated into an armed robbery with a firearm discharge unfolded at the intersection of Broadway and Tribune Court. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the event occurred on January 3, 2026, at around 1:35 a.m. Officers were initially called to the scene for a battery report, but happened upon the robbery as they arrived. The LBPD detailed that the sole victim was a male adult, who was confronted by a 15-year-old male suspect.
The confrontation quickly turned violent as a physical altercation ensued between the victim and the young armed suspect. In the midst of the scuffle, the suspect discharged the firearm. Fortunately, despite the grave circumstances, no injuries were reported. The suspect attempted to evade the scene just as police were closing in. Though momentarily successful in their flight, officers were able to arrest the adolescent nearby.
