As a traveler prepared to board a train at a California metro station, something unusual on the steps caught their attention. A tarp lay spread out, with a small, unmoving figure resting on top of it.
Curious and concerned, the traveler moved closer and realized it was a dog. Her skin was bare and wrinkled, and her eyes looked tired and defeated. She did not react or attempt to move, appearing resigned to being overlooked.
This time, however, someone chose not to walk past. The traveler paused and contacted the one group they believed could step in and help.
