Person airlifted to safety after car flies 200 feet of Southern California cliffside

A person had to be airlifted to safety after the car they were in careened 200 feet off the side of a cliff in Orange County on Friday evening.

The Orange County Fire Authority posted on social media that they received reports of a single-vehicle crash in the area of Corsica Road and Napoli Way in Mission Viejo around 6:45 p.m.

Difficult terrain and limited access elicited the dispatch of an OCFA Firehawk helicopter for a night hoist operation. Firefighters on the ground treated and prepared the unidentified person to be hoisted into the helicopter.
