A fourth suspect has been arrested in a transnational residential burglary investigation targeting homes in Newport Beach and Irvine, police announced this week.
According to the Newport Beach Police Department, detectives continued working the case after three men were taken into custody Jan. 28 in a joint operation with the Irvine Police Department.
Investigators previously said the trio was tied to a series of residential burglaries in Newport Beach and had traveled to Irvine neighborhoods in January while allegedly preparing to break into a home. Police said the suspects were under surveillance when they jumped a fence carrying backpacks and later fled in a vehicle.
Authorities tracked the men from the air as they moved through areas where burglaries had occurred, at one point seeing them crouch in bushes before driving off at a high rate of speed. Detectives said the alleged burglary attempt was disrupted before any home was entered…
