LA County approves $843 million plan to expand housing and homelessness services

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an $843 million spending plan this week for the Department of Homeless Services and Housing, directing the bulk of new funding toward interim and permanent housing programs shown to reduce homelessness.

The budget for fiscal year 2026 and 2027 reflects a shift toward housing focused strategies, expanded outreach and prevention, and increased oversight following the creation of the new county department earlier this year.

Funding will come primarily from voter approved Measure A revenue, alongside one time carryover funds from Measures A and H and state Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention grants.
