Video shows end of barricade situation on Valentine’s Day at Southern California motel

A police standoff with a barricaded suspect at a Long Beach motel ended with him being bitten by a K9 and taken into custody.

Details surrounding the incident was limited at first; however, preliminary information indicates that it started around 7 p.m. Saturday after a man allegedly stabbed someone — reportedly a romantic partner — and barricaded himself inside a room at the Pine Avenue Inn, located on Pine Avenue near Pacific Coast Highway.

According to news stringer service OnSceneTV, Long Beach Police Department officers called on the SWAT Team and K9 units for assistance on getting the suspect, who appeared to be armed with a knife, to exit his room.

Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows that officers used tear gas to draw the man out. He exited, yelling and climbing onto something obscured by a police vehicle, before being bitten by a police dog and taken into custody at gunpoint.
