Key Points

  • “Keeping In The Shadows” took six years to film, focusing on surfing and universal themes.
  • The film explores disconnecting from instant gratification and pursuing genuine, shared experiences.
  • Sold-out premieres reflect audience connection; hard work and collaboration central to project’s success.

There are passion projects and then there are masterpiece works of gargantuan effort and Perry Gershkow’s latest film, Keeping In The Shadows, is certainly the latter. Filmed over six years in close collaboration with Noah “Waggy” Wegrich and featuring the likes of Cliff Kapono, Torren Martyn, Parker Coffin, Nat Young, Tanner and Pat Gudauskas, and Tom Lowe (and many more) there’s no shortage of hammers that are worthy of watching on a big screen.

Good news is that Perry is in the midst of a premiere tour that is about to hit some of the best venues in Southern California including Daydream Surf Shop in Newport Beach on 3/14 (tonight), the Rivian South Coast Theater in Laguna on 3/18, Dear Tomorrow in Oceanside on 3/20, and La Paloma in Encinitas in 3/21. You can buy tickets here–act fast because they will sell out.
