Two Dead, Several Injured in Violent Multi-Car Crash at Busy Anaheim Intersection

ANAHEIM, CA — A routine attempt to conduct a traffic stop turned into a scene of devastation early Friday morning as a high-speed collision at a major Anaheim intersection left two people dead and several others in critical condition.

The incident, which authorities say did not involve a police pursuit, has reignited local discussions regarding speed enforcement and road safety technology.

A Fatal Chain of Events

Just before 1 a.m., an Anaheim police officer observed a silver Infiniti sedan driving erratically. According to investigators, the officer intended to pull the vehicle over to assess the driver. However, before the officer could even activate emergency lights, the driver of the Infiniti reportedly turned off the car’s headlights and accelerated away at a high rate of speed.

Police emphasized that no pursuit took place. The officer did not have time to close the distance or initiate a chase before the Infiniti reached the intersection of West Lincoln Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard.

The Collision Scene

Seconds after fleeing, the Infiniti reportedly blew through a red light, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles:

  • A Red Toyota Camry: Struck with such force that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • A Blue Sedan: Sustained heavy damage.
  • A White Cadillac Escalade: Involved in the secondary impact.
  • The Silver Infiniti: Mangled by the force of the high-speed collision.

“The force of the impacts scattered debris across the intersection and left multiple vehicles mangled,” authorities noted, describing a scene of crumpled metal and deployed airbags.

The Human Toll

The crash resulted in an immediate loss of life and several life-threatening injuries:

  • Fatalities: The driver of the red Toyota Camry and a passenger in the Infiniti sedan died at the scene.
  • Critical Injuries: The driver of the Infiniti and two teenage girls who were passengers in the back seat were rushed to local hospitals in critical condition.
  • Minor Injuries: Other occupants involved in the crash were treated for less severe injuries, though officials say the psychological impact on survivors is immense.

Investigation and Accountability

Anaheim investigators are currently reviewing footage from red-light cameras located at the intersection. While speed is a confirmed factor, police are also looking into whether impairment played a role in the driver’s erratic behavior…
