Twenty years after the first episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered on Bravo, some of the show’s original cast and crew members are recounting the show’s early days.

The show premiered on March 21, 2006, initially following the lives of Orange County residents Jeana Keough, Vicki Gunvalson, Lauri Peterson, Kimberly Bryant and Jo De La Rosa.

The first season of the series aired eight episodes, but eventually it grew to spawn an entire franchise, highlighting women from a dozen other 12 other U.S. cities, including Beverly Hills and New York.

One of the show’s original producers, Scott Dunlop, tells The Los Angeles Times,that he got the idea when he moved in to the gated community of Coto de Caza. He quickly became friends with neighbor Jeana Keough, who would go on be one of the show’s original cast members…
