Yes, on May 8 Metro is opening “Section 1” of the subway extension from the Wilshire/Western station that opened 30 years ago. Section 1 consists of three new stations, at La Brea, Fairfax and La Cienega. Section 2, adding Beverly Drive and Century City, is scheduled to open in Spring 2027, Section 3, Westwood/UCLA and Westwood/VA, in Fall 2027. That’s a total of nine new miles west of the current terminus.
Getting from La Brea to downtown will take 14 minutes—and no parking needed once you get there. This promotional video from Metro describes the May 8 opening as “linking the places that shape our city’s soul.”…
