ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage Police got approval to build their “Real Time Crime Center” in 2025, and as the RTCC nears its one-year anniversary, some local lawmakers are questioning the future of surveillance technology and police work.
The RTCC was the subject of renewed attention as APD is seeking an expenditure of nearly $600,000 dollars to expand it.
“This expenditure is to move the Real Time Crime Center to its final location where it can handle all the staff that we’re planning on putting in there,” said Anchorage Police Chief Sean Case. “But it’s also none of the equipment that we currently have was purchased for the Real-Time Crime Center. So, you know, monitors, desks, chairs, being able to put, you know, the wires in ceilings.”…
