(NewsNation) — Flock cameras have become increasingly controversial but remain in use across the nation, with one holdout: Alaska.
There are no Flock cameras in the entire state of Alaska, but that doesn’t mean the state doesn’t have similar systems designed to capture license plate data for law enforcement.
Recently, the Anchorage Assembly has been considering additional funding for an ongoing effort to build a “real-time crime center” that leverages similar tools, allowing police to get data from traffic cameras, body cams and even private security cameras that owners allow the police to use.
