A new access road leading to an elementary school in Wasilla is now open. According to Mat-Su Borough leaders, crews have been hard at work, trying to complete the new Shaw Elementary School access road, called Foxtrot Extension. It officially opened to traffic over the weekend. The goal now is to wrap up construction and cleanup work this week.
A cool opportunity for students at Tok High School. State forestry teams working on the Mukluk Fire gave the students an inside look at wildfire response. They learned what the firefighters do, the tools they rely on, and all the career paths that are available in wildland fire.
