ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – As the weekend comes to a close, expect on and off rain showers to continue as we move into Labor Day and the workweek for the Southcentral region. A thick cloud cover will also be sticking around giving allowing for an occasional sunbreak from time to time. However, expect the rain and drizzle to continue through Tuesday as two storm systems move up from around Kodiak. Rain should be light to moderate with about half an inch to just under an inch through Tuesday for the western Kenai Peninsula and Anchorage. Rain will be heavier on the eastern side, the Mat-Su Valley, and Prince William Sound with an inch to two inches possible. Winds could also get a little gusty.
Rain will also be moving into Western Alaska, and along the entire southern coastline to the southeast bringing an end to the sunshine that has graced the Panhandle over the weekend. Not to be left out, the Interior will start Labor with a little sunshine, but by evening light rain will be moving in.
Temperatures will remain slightly above average and into the upper 50s and low 60s for most of the state, with low 50s in the west, and upper 30s in the north…
