ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Oil prices continue to rise with Alaska North Slope crude oil reaching nearly $97 a barrel at the end of last week.
Gas prices have followed suit. According to the latest data from AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Alaska has hit $5.02 — an increase of $1.25 from a year ago. These averages do not necessarily include prices from smaller rural communities where gas prices can be extremely high.
Diesel fuel is at record high prices in Alaska with the current statewide average hitting $6.12 per gallon. This is approximately $2.07 higher than last year at this same time…
