Nearly 500 tons of ore-sorting, milling, and other equipment have arrived at Port MacKenzie. It was all taken about a mile up the road to the future site of Nova Minerals’ processing facility. Mat-Su Borough officials say the plant will be Alaska’s first fully-integrated antimony mining, processing, and refining operation.
Residents of Kaktovik are being told not to drink the community water until further notice. Leaders with the North Slope Borough put out an alert, saying “ethylene glycol” has been detected in the water system. They warn that boiling the water will not make it safe to drink.
