ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A recent study says over a billion birds are killed every year in the in the U.S. from striking windows, and the numbers may be even higher since the figures only include birds that were taken to rehab clinics for treatment.
“So, you extrapolate that to birds who hit windows and fly off, and you think they are okay,” said Laura Atwood, Executive Director of Bird Treatment and Learning Center in Anchorage. “But the truth is, they likely sustained injuries they are not going to recover from.”
