FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/KTVF) – The University of Alaska Fairbanks last week announced the successful test of a 1,000-kilometer unmanned flight carrying a sample of blood, undertaken by its drone research program, the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
Undertaken at the Nenana Municipal Airport on Aug. 19, the test involved a drone carrying around 200 pounds of blood flying in a circle in the sky at between 3,000 and 5,000 feet for eight hours and 47 minutes, until it logged the thousand kilometers of distance traveled.
The blood, when tested afterward, showed that the blood had not separated and had kept its integrity during the flight…
