Mayor Dave Bronson declared a Public Health and Safety Emergency on Friday due to the cold temperatures in Anchorage. The announcement will expand sheltering facilities like the Aviator Hotel, the Golden Lion, and the former Solid Waste Service to accommodate more individuals as well as operate around the clock as warming facilities.
