The disappearance of Valerie Jeanette Sifsof, a 43-year-old woman from Anchorage, Alaska, presents a haunting mystery that continues to perplex investigators and pain her family. Vanishing on July 7, 2012, during a camping trip, Sifsof’s absence has left an indelible mark on her community and beyond.

Valerie Sifsof, born to Jeweline Pelagio and Victor Sifsof and belonging to the Yu’Pik Inupiaq tribe, was last seen at Granite Creek Campground, located at Mile 64 on Seward Highway near Girdwood. The night of her disappearance, following an argument with her boyfriend, she walked away from their campsite around midnight, leaving behind her cell phone, ID, and keys – essential items she would not normally abandon.

Her boyfriend, unable to find her, reported her missing on July 11. Extensive searches by the authorities yielded few clues. In a distressing development, a kayaker discovered her green tank top in August 2012 in Six Mile Creek, behind the campground. In October of the same year, her family found her sweatshirt near the same area, deepening the mystery of her whereabouts.
