Anchorage firefighters honor the fallen on 9/11 anniversary via Step Mill Challenge

Sept. 11 is a day to remember and to reflect. On the anniversary of the deadliest terror attack in our nation’s history, the Anchorage Fire Department honored the first responders – and the brave men and women – who died on that day 23 years ago. On Wednesday, AFD is holding its annual Firefighter Step Mill Challenge at the Alaska Club West. Participants of the challenge will take turns using a stair stepper to climb as many flights of stairs as possible in 11 minutes – with a goal of reaching the equivalent of 110 stories, the same number that were in the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
