A close call for a musher in the Yukon Quest Alaska race this weekend, but thanks to a swift rescue effort, she and her dogs are safe.
According to race officials, musher Ashley Franklin activated her SOS button while attempting to climb Rosebud Summit on Sunday, February 2nd. Race officials say they were notified at Mile 101 and quickly dispatched a trail crew to assist.
Ashley communicated with her handler via an InReach device, explaining that she couldn’t ascend the summit on her own. She also reported that her sled had suffered multiple breaks, making further travel impossible…
