An Anchorage man will be spending over 13 years behind bars after a federal judge sentenced him for robbing a bank while on supervised release from a previous robbery conviction.
James Surrells, 54, pleaded guilty to robbing a local credit union on July 13, 2024. He entered the branch, demanded money from the teller, and claimed he had a gun, threatening to produce it if necessary. The teller handed over $450, and Surrells fled the scene.
