Alaska Plans Northernmost MAX Route

Alaska plans to bolster its network within the airline’s namesake state. In the coming months, the carrier will add the Boeing 737 MAX to one of its intra-Alaska routes.

The type will begin regular service to the U.S.’s northernmost city, Utqiaġvik (Barrow), Alaska, this summer. As first flagged by Aeroroutes, the 737 MAX 8 will connect the city and Anchorage from June 12 to Aug. 19.

The aircraft will operate on the route once per day, complementing the other daily flight, which is flown by an Embraer E175.

According to Cirium Diio schedule data, Utqiaġvik is typically served with Boeing 737-800, 737-800, and E175 aircraft. The MAX 8 has flown to the city on a handful of one-off flights in 2024…
