Ceramic Artists come together to help fight food insecurity

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) -Members of the community came together to combat hunger in Anchorage on Saturday. The 3rd annual event was held by Turnagain Ceramics, where handmade pottery was sold. The preparations for the event were underway before the big sale; members of Turnagain Ceramics spent a day making all the pottery at what they call a “Throwathon”.

“The Throwathon itself was a full-day thing. I think we had like 2 shifts of four hours each; processing all those bowls took a couple of weeks,” Brian Adams said. “100 hours of work total between all the people that were involved.”

The event is one of the bigger ones that they hold throughout the year and this year was their biggest one yet with almost 400 bowls for sale…
