April snow for Fairbanks and a record-breaking high temp – no joke!

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Beautiful weather was the order of the day for Southeast Alaska.

But in Interior Alaska, it was no April Fool’s Day joke as snow fell in Fairbanks. Wet heavy snow added up to 8 inches in the hills surrounding Fairbanks. Winter weather advisories remain in place for the next storm to impact the area on Wednesday. Two to 6 inches of snow are expected.

Anchorage broke a daily high temperature record with 52 degrees at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. This is a new record, breaking the old record from 1995. It was also the warmest temperature for the city in 176 days!…
