Terrified locals brace for disaster as Alaska volcano shakes with nonstop quakes

Volcanoes are magnificent with a lot of people wanting to visit nature’s hot spots but you don’t want to be near one when it goes off. A volcano in Alaska, which is in a state of unrest, is on the verge of exploding thanks to a bunch of mini earthquakes in the area.

The natural wonder, known as Mount Spurr, is 11,000 feet tall. Its main summit vent has been dormant for over 5,000 years, but, Crater Peak, which is a flank vent, has erupted multiple times, most recently in 1992 with three different instances in the same year — June 27, August 18 and September 16-17.

There have been 55 earthquakes in the past week, according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory, which may be a sign of magma rising beneath Mount Spurr…
