April snow is plentiful

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Snow just wants to hang around as April is underway. Anchorage set a daily snowfall record Thursday with 5.7 inches of snow, breaking the old record from 2023 of 4.6 inches. Snow also fell over Fairbanks Friday, covering the ground and then melting through the afternoon.

Two more storm systems will impact Alaska over the weekend. And winter weather advisories will impact the eastern Aleutians, S. Alaska Peninsula and the Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island. All will see snow and blowing snow as gusty winds hit the areas 45 to 55 mph. A winter storm warning for the Upper Koyukuk Valley will turn through Saturday morning for 4 to 8 inches of snow.
