Nearly 500 Matanuska-Susitna Borough residents received scholarships from Mat-Su Health Foundation (MSHF), each getting between $2,000 and $9,000 to pursue higher education in the fields of health and human services.
Funding a Critical Workforce
The academic scholarships aim to grow the local health and human services workforce in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough by reducing students’ financial burdens. Scholarships were awarded to 489 residents attending both in- and out-of-state institutions.
“As the Mat-Su remains the fastest growing borough in Alaska, it is critical that our healthcare workforce keeps pace with the community’s evolving needs,” says MSHF President and CEO Elizabeth Ripley. “Our scholarship program plays a key role in preparing local residents to become the next generation of health and human service professionals. These careers not only offer strong employment prospects but also provide a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of others.”
